Equinox Carbon Fibre Telescopic Stem.

Telescopic Carbon fibre Metal Detector stems.

Well we waited until others had made their Carbon Fibre stems for the new Minelab Equinox series of Detector.

A  long time Minelabowner friend of mine  Scott Ellis called me one day and suggested we build a full blown Telescopic after market stem for the new Equinox detectors.  He had some ideas rattling around in his head for some time on designs etc but didn't have an Equinox of his own to play with so I sent him one along with the new 15" coil.
Scotty is a mad Canadian who now works & lives in the Czech Republic with his Czech born wife and their lovely twin daughters.   He works in the Automobile Industry. He is generally working on serial production efficiencies regarding safety, costs and performance.
Scotty is a very keen detectorist and loves to pimp anything and everything after market. He has a lot of contacts in China through his work so it was a simple thing to do to find somebody to translate his designs & Ideas into practice.
Scott has designed an Anti Rotational feature into the 3 part stem design, this is basically a small slot that runs the full length of the 3 pieces and locks each of the parts together so they cannot twist sideways.
We have had made two special mouldings rather than go the 3D printing route to change the coil fixing stem end bracket and also the small fixing bracket that clamps the control box to the stem. This clamp has been redesigned from the original to allow the top stem complete telescopic capability which allows the whole 3 parts to slide in to the 18" length for transportation.
Stem colours will always be black on the bottom shaft because the coloured Carbon fibre that we are going to use on the top two stems has a type of metal foil built in to the colours so unusable on a metal detector.  Initial orders for this stem will be in colours of Black/Red check design.  Coil end fixing will also be in Red or black to match the rest of the stem.
New coil bolt rubbers are going to be used. We have invested in a tool to make round, thicker, CTX type washers to try and alleviate the overtightening  of the coil bolts that people are tending to do, resulting in possible coil lug breakage.
As an extra to buy seperately we are thinking of offering a 3 piece pack of slightly longer lower stems (4" longer) for use by taller people and also as a ready to use time saver in the field for carrying the 3 different size coils.

Stems will be available in the UK from ourselves at Detecting-Innovations and also Crawfords MDs.     They will be distributed in the US by Serious Detecting Michigan.   They will also be available as stocks build,Internationally, please call on Whats app +447968470494 or email tonyhunt123@gmail.com or our new 2nd email detectinginnovations@gmail.com        for details.

We are currently working on one that actually is removable quickly. If we are successful it will be on the website asap Admin 09 November 2020
Ok, this comment isn't about the shaft. I have a red one and am waiting for the release of the collapsible control head joint. Is this work in progress or not started yet? Norman Farrer 20 September 2019
